Welcome to our February News Update. This month's news includes details of some new features just added to our site and a brief reminder about this year's Who Do You Think You Are? Live show this weekend

New Event and People Tables
We've completely re-written the way we present the event and people data in the web site to allow you to quickly view and assimilate the information of most interest to you.

Each event listed in the table now includes the type of event, the event date and the name or names of the people that the event is associated with. People's dates of birth are now shown next to their name so that you can easily distinguish between family members who have the same name.

The event information at a selected location is now shown in two different tabbed lists - one for events added by you (Your Data) and one for events added by other users that have been made public (Public Data).

You can now also sort the data by Surname, Forenames, Event Type, Event Date and by the accuracy of each event's location. You can even specify how many results are displayed at any one time - either 10, 25, 50 or 100 events can be listed on each page - saving you time and effort.

Increased Geo-Referencing Accuracy
We've also automatically increased the accuracy of many of the locations that have already been uploaded to the site via GEDCOM files. This also means that whenever events are now uploaded from a GEDCOM file, and where the specified place names are unique and correctly detailed, we are able to automatically mark their locations with green arrows - which represent the highest accuracy level. This reduces the need to manually move or mark events as accurate - again saving you lots of time.

Join us at the Who Do You Think You Are? Live show - this weekend

For the second year we'll be attending the Who Do You Think You Are? Live show between the 26th and 28th of February at Olympia in London.

The show promises to be another great event - previous years have had over 15,000 attendees over the three days.

We'll be at stand number 433 so, if you get the chance, please come along to meet us and have a chat.

If you're planning on coming, we're able to offer you the chance to purchase 2 tickets for the price of 1. Either call the ticket hotline on 0871 230 5596, or go to the official web site at www.whodoyouthinkyouarelive.co.uk and quote the ticket code of EX241.

...and finally...
Did you know that Ancestral Atlas is designed to provide an environment for collaboration as well as displaying family history on maps?

Others may have attached data to the same locations as you and while they may not have a family connection they probably have information about that location that could help you in your quest to record and understand your family's heritage.

You can contact anyone who's added data to the site by simply clicking the "Contact" button on an Event Properties page. Our messaging service is totally secure and you have complete control over what information you share with others (your email address is never passed on to others by us).

So go ahead and contact someone - you might be amazed at what you find out!*
